The Training Division's mission is to ensure that our men and women
in blue, along with their civilian counterparts are trained to the
highest possible educational and professional standards. The
citizens of our community expect and deserve nothing less than an
extremely professional police service. Our job is to ensure that our
agency meets those expectations through the training of our
In-service classes are conducted on a regular basis throughout the
year as well as several advanced certification and specialization
classes. All external training takes place at theGeorgia
Public Safety Training Centeras
scheduled through the Training Division.
Physical Agility Test
the first phase of the department's hiring process.
On the day of the test, all applicants will report
to the Police Department Training Center no later
than 8:45 a.m. Appropriate athletic attire, which
includes trousers with belt loops and a belt, is
required for entry. Applicants may practice the
Agility Test prior to the test date by scheduling an
appointment with the Training Division.
2016 Testing Dates
All applicants must successfully complete the course
in the maximum allotted time of 56 seconds. Failing
to negotiate any obstacle or crossing the finish
line without all issued equipment will constitute
A written assessment exam will be administered to
those who complete the obstacle course immediately
following the test.
The firing range is open
the third Saturday of each month from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
A $5 fee is required for each shooter to cover range maintenance and
targets. All shooters must bring eye and ear protection to access
